Due to my genes, my hair is graying in a large patch near my face. One of my friends started calling me Rogue. It's cute but sometimes the grays get to me. So I have been coloring my hair. It is no longer for pleasure but to hide my secret! Mind you, I only color the front of my hair but feels like a chore.
I decided to look for an alternative to hair dye. For the past month or so, I have been experimenting with coffee. (Thanks, Sister!) There are different recipes of coloring grays. Sage is suppose to be good but coffee seemed a much easier choice. I decided to go with this recipe without the henna. (Seemed like a lot of trouble finding the right henna.)
When I started, I would clean my hair with the apple vinegar and then put the coffee in my hair with a sponge. I would let it dry and then wash my hair. I really can't say I noticed much change. I did it twice a week. Then two weeks ago, it did appear that my grays were darkening up. The ends which have been dyed in the past seem to be soaking up the color.
Last night, I forwent the apple vinegar and just brushed in the coffee with a hair color brush, waited for it to dry and then rinsed it out. This morning, it looks a little darker than last week.
I can't say if the "virgin" grays will get darker but I can only hope. Maybe I will know something in another four weeks.
